Scarecrows on the Square

Businesses, Groups/Organizations and Families/Individuals compete for prizes and ribbons.  Scarecrow entries line the south side of Main Street.  Business scarecrows line the north side of Main Steet and compete for trophies.  Winners are determined by popular votes.  Ballots are available in designated businesses. See Details below or Register Online!

Deadline for Registration: 9/30/2011
Registration available online, confirmation will be emailed
• Registration forms also available at Down a Country Road, 566-8026. These can be mailed to HBPA, PO Box 72, Hummelstown PA 17036 or dropped off at Down a Country Road, 295 E Main St

Prizes for Divisions 1 & 2:
1st Place, $50 in Hummelstown Dollars* & ribbon
2nd Place, $30 in Hummelstown Dollars* & ribbon
3rd Place, $20 in Hummelstown Dollars* & ribbon
Honorable Mention, ribbon
* Hummelstown Dollars are redeemable for goods/services at participating businesses.
Top 3 Business Scarecrows will receive engraved trophies

Division 1&2 Scarecrows Placed on the Square: 9/25/2011
• A time and location will be assigned the week of 9/19, you will be contacted
• Each registered scarecrow must have a name
• Signage for entrants in Divisions 1 & 2 will be provided by HBPA(sign will include the scarecrow's name & creators), signage for entrants in Division 3 is the responsibility of the business.
• Scarecrows must be constructed so that they can be tie-strapped tightly to a tree or light pole along Main Street
• Scarecrows must have a spine of either wood or pipe
• Scarecrows may not be any wider than 4-foot
• Scarecrows need to be sturdy enough to withstand heavy wind & rain

Business Scarecrows placed on Square 9/18/2011
Removal of Scarecrows from the Square: 10/29, 10/30/2011
• Entrant's responsibility, please clean up area, scarecrows may not be removed earlier
• Winning scarecrows will be removed 10/28/2011 by HBPA for display in the Halloween Parade, winners will be contacted after 6pm on 10/28
• Any scarecrows must be removed from the Square by 9 am 10/31/11
• Winning scarecrows can be picked up at Down a Country Road, 295 E Main St., anytime after the Halloween Parade
Voting: 9/28-1o/28/2011 (one vote per person) Ballets will be available at designated businesses.

Awarding of Prizes: 10/31/2011
Prizes will be awarded on the stage at the Halloween Parade. All winners will be contacted prior to the parade. Winning scarecrows will ride on the HBPA float in the parade.
